The Victory Tower and Peace Tower are connected with each other through the column-road (western colonnade). The ceiling of the columns is ornamented with Turkish carpet motifs. These motifs have been painted by Tarık LEVENTOĞLU (1913-1978) by using fresco technique.

Just amidst the colonnades, there exists the symbolic sarcophagus of İsmet İNÖNÜ, Commander of the Western Front during the War of Independence, the first prime minister and the second president of the Republic of Turkey, İsmet İNÖNÜ passed away on December 25, 1973.
